Wastewater Treatment Improvements, Lower Cost and More Effective than Other Treatments.

Clear Water Technologies, Inc. (CWTI) has developed a patented process* that can effectively remove nutrients such as phosphorus and sulfur from the wastewater stream at a lower operating cost than traditional methods. This process coined, “HOGEN PROCESS®”, is an effective treatment for reducing corrosive sulfides, H2S, and phosphorus concentrations as well as reducing sludge volumes and creating a potential iron source for spray irrigation systems.

The Graphs bellow shows the typical reduction curves for phosphorus and sulfide in wastewater.

Many Types of Treatment Systems can Benefit by using this Process.

The HOGEN PROCESS® treatment can be used with many different types of treatment systems, waste flows, and detention times with minimal changes to existing equipment and procedures.

Click on a link bellow for more information on how this treatment can benefit your type of system or scroll down for information on all the different types of systems.

Odor Reduction

Sulfide in the waste stream can cause corrosion to treatment components such as pipes, pumps, and wet wells. The presence of Hydrogen Sulfide makes for unpleasant odors. Effective reduction of sulfide levels can be obtained to control corrosive damage and offensive odors.

Nutrient Reduction

Effluent limitations for phosphorus discharge concentrations are becoming more stringent. Desired reduction of effluent discharge concentrations can be effectively obtained with no process disruptions.

Anaerobic Digesters

Anaerobic digesters can benefit by improving sludge settling, and in some cases, sludge densities can be increased to greater than 7% solids. Iron-sulfur binding eliminates hydrogen sulfide odors.

Aerobic Systems

A more efficient and productive environment can be created and settling rates can be dramatically improved.

Trickling Filters and RBCs

The heavy buildup of organic matter on media systems can cause costly down time and repairs. The HOGEN PROCESS® treatment can create an environment that promotes a biomass with proper characteristics to effectively slough from the media while maintaining proper treatment.

Stabilization Ponds

By reducing nutrients such as phosphorus from the water column, TSS levels can be dramatically reduced by decreased algae growth.

Sludge Thickening

The HOGEN PROCESS® treatment, in some cases, can create a denser sludge by binding organics and inorganics in the sludge.

Reduce Polymer Use

The binding of hydrogen sulfide with iron in the organic sludge, can reduce the required amount of costly coagulation polymer.

Increased Efficiency

Iron and its bacterial partner can augment other types of treatment applications, creating an organic and inorganic environment that improves the efficiencies of Alum and other similar treatments. In certain cases, existing treatments can be completely replaced by the HOGEN PROCESS® treatment to achieve the desired results at a considerable cost reduction.

Other Benefits

Residual iron in the effluent can maintain the proper nutrient balance on spray irrigation soils, preventing the nutrients from leaching into the groundwater.
